Sheridan Maine Midlands is seeking an experienced Finance Officer to manage day-to-day finances for a small group of SME businesses. The role is 20-25 hours per week, spread across four days, and 100% office-based in Solihull.
The position is a hands-on finance role with responsibility for sales and purchase ledgers, banking, and cash management, plus month-end and management accounts. Office-based, UK work eligibility required.
20-25 hours per week Ideally across 4 days
£40,000 FTE 100% office based
We're looking for an experienced, hands-on Finance Officer to take responsibility for the day-to-day finances of a small but professional group of SME businesses.
This is a new hire, so temporary or temp-to-perm could also be options.
This is very much a hands-on finance role. The majority of your time will be spent looking after the transactional side of the accounts, including sales ledger, purchase ledger, banking and cash management. However, you'll also need the experience to take those accounts through month end and put together management accounts.
It's a great opportunity for someone who enjoys the variety and ownership that comes with working in an SME environment and wants to remain close to the day-to-day numbers rather than move into a more technical or commercially focused accounting role.
You’ll need solid, hands-on experience across both transactional finance and month end.
You could currently be working as a Finance Officer, Senior Finance Assistant, Accounts Assistant, Accounts Officer or similar. What matters most is that you’re equally comfortable getting involved in the everyday detail of purchase ledger, sales ledger and banking as you are pulling everything together at month end.
This probably won’t suit someone looking to step away from transactional finance into a purely management accounting or analytical role. Equally, you’ll need more than ledger-only experience, as you’ll be expected to confidently take the accounts through month end.
Experience within an SME, owner-managed business or multi-company environment would be particularly useful.
The role is part-time, around 20-25 hours per week, ideally spread across four days, which could work particularly well for someone wanting to work school-friendly hours or simply looking for a better balance.
The position is 100% office based in Solihull.
Salary: £40,000 FTE, pro rata depending on agreed hours.
You are required to be eligible to work in the UK full time without restriction.
