Job summary

An SME is seeking an experienced Accounts / Finance Manager to own the day-to-day finance function in a sole, autonomous role. This part-time position offers 25–30 hours per week and is site-based in Colliers Wood, SW London.

You will work with an external accounting firm that handles payroll, VAT returns and audits, while managing purchase and sales ledgers, credit control, reconciliations, cashflow, VAT, payroll support, and month-end processes, reporting to the Directors.

Qualifications

• 3+ years' UK experience in a finance role (desirable).
• AAT qualification or part-qualified AAT (desirable).
• Strong bookkeeping knowledge: purchase/sales ledger, credit control and reconciliations.

Responsibilities

• Manage the purchase ledger: process, reconcile supplier invoices, and supplier payments.
• Raise and process sales invoices, manage credit control and chase overdue accounts.
• Complete bank and credit card reconciliations; monitor cash position.

We're recruiting on behalf of a friendly, well-established SME for an experienced Accounts / Finance Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day finance function in this autonomous, part-time role.

Part Time Hours: 25–30 hours/week, flexible

Location: Colliers Wood, South West London (site-based)

About the Role: This is a sole Accounts Manager position, supported by an external accounting firm who handle payroll, VAT returns and audits, and provide induction support. It's not a high-volume processing role (around 10 supplier invoices per week) — instead, it's a varied, hands-on role covering purchase and sales ledger, credit control, banking, reconciliations, cashflow, VAT, payroll support, month-end processes and financial reporting, working closely with the Directors.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the purchase ledger, process and reconcile supplier invoices, and process supplier payments
• Raise and process sales invoices, manage credit control and chase overdue accounts
• Complete bank and credit card reconciliations and monitor company cash position
• Assist with monthly/quarterly management accounts, P&L and cashflow reporting
• Calculate and process VAT, PAYE and National Insurance payments
• Process employee expenses and support payroll-related record keeping
• Maintain accurate financial records within Xero and support process improvement
• Liaise with external accountants and auditors, and support year-end statutory accounts

What We're Looking For

• 3+ years' proven UK experience in a finance/accounts role, or equivalent (desirable)
• AAT qualification, part-qualified AAT, or relevant accounting study (desirable)
• Strong practical bookkeeping and accounting experience, including purchase/sales ledger, credit control and reconciliations
• Experience with VAT, PAYE and National Insurance processes
• Experience using Xero (or similar finance systems) ; strong Microsoft Excel skills
• Experience working within an SME environment is advantageous
• Proactive, hands-on and inquisitive, with strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
• Confident communicator, comfortable dealing with Directors, clients, suppliers and external accountants
