Job summary

Sussex Teachers are recruiting an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to support a KS2 pupil at a welcoming primary school in Hanover, Brighton. The role is part-time, 8:45am to 1:30pm, Monday to Friday, short-term supply covering late October 2026.

You will work with the class teacher and SENCO to help the pupil access learning, regulate emotions and build confidence. The school is rated Good by Ofsted and the agency provides weekly PAYE pay, a Brighton-based consultant, and flexible

Qualifications

• At least three months’ recent experience working with children in a school or education setting.

Are you looking for a part-time SEND Teaching Assistant job in Brighton?

Sussex Teachers are recruiting an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to support a Key Stage 2 pupil at a welcoming primary school in Hanover, Brighton. This short-term supply position will cover a brief period in late October 2026, continuing for the first day after the half-term holiday.

You will work from 8:45am until 1:30pm, Monday to Friday, including a 15-minute break and lunchtime supervisory duties.

About the Role

Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO, you will provide individual support to a KS2 pupil with additional educational needs. You will help the pupil access classroom learning, regulate their emotions and develop positive relationships with others.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Adapting classroom activities to make learning accessible and engaging.
• Supporting the pupil to remain focused and participate in lessons.
• Providing movement or brain breaks outside the classroom when required.
• Helping the pupil regulate and prepare to return to learning.
• Supporting the development of confidence, social skills and positive relationships.
• Monitoring the pupil’s response to activities and adapting your support in consultation with the teacher.
• Undertaking midday supervisory duties during lunchtime.

About You

This role would suit a calm, encouraging and adaptable Teaching Assistant with recent experience supporting children with SEND. You may previously have worked as a SEND Teaching Assistant, Individual Needs Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Classroom Teaching Assistant or SEN Support Worker.
