Working in small class sizes, you will build meaningful relationships with pupils, support their emotional wellbeing and contribute to a positive learning environment. Transferable experience from care or youth work is welcome.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young people.
  • Experience within SEND/SEMH or education setting (desirable).
  • Transferable experience from care, youth work, support work, coaching, residential childcare, psychology or mentoring.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant in one of our Brighton SEND and SEMH schools, you will:

  • Support pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups.
  • Help children develop confidence, independence and resilience.

What We're Looking For

To be shortlisted, you'll ideally have:

  • Experience working with children or young people.
  • Experience within a SEND, SEMH or education setting (desirable but not essential).
  • Transferable experience from care, youth work, support work, coaching, residential childcare, psychology or mentoring.
  • A calm, patient and positive approach.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Confidence supporting children with additional needs.
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • A genuine passion for helping children succeed.
  • The ability to remain resilient and adaptable in challenging situations.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
