Job summary

Stanborough School in Watford is seeking a part‑time Maintenance Assistant to help keep premises secure, safe and well‑maintained. The role supports day‑to‑day operations and contributes to a positive learning environment for pupils and staff.

Primary duties include routine maintenance, minor repairs, liaising with contractors, and assisting with cleanliness. Reports to the School Business Manager and works with a friendly staff team.

Qualifications

• GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
• Evidence of relevant training in facilities management, health and safety, or maintenance (desirable)
• Willingness to attend relevant training as required
• Experience of maintenance, caretaking or similar practical work (school experience desirable)
• Experience working as part of a team
• Experience liaising with contractors or suppliers (desirable)
• Good general maintenance and DIY skills
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations in a school or similar environment

Responsibilities

• Ensure the overall security and safety of school premises and grounds.
• Carry out routine maintenance and minor repairs.
• Liaise with contractors and suppliers.
• Support cleanliness and smooth running of premises.
• Work with the School Business Manager and staff.
