Job summary

Townsville Catholic Education Office in Shaw, QLD, seeks a School Chaplain for a fixed-term, term-time role. The position offers 8 hours per week, commencing 18 January 2027 and concluding 3 December 2027, to support students’ spiritual and emotional wellbeing and foster Catholic ethos.

You will work with school leadership, staff and families to nurture a caring, faith-filled school culture while upholding safeguarding standards through checks and references.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Youth Work, Chaplaincy or Pastoral Care with competencies in referrals and mental health.
• Demonstrated capacity to support students' and staff's spiritual and emotional wellbeing.

Responsibilities

• Provide pastoral and spiritual care to students and staff.
• Create opportunities for faith development and Catholic values in the school community.
• Promote social justice initiatives, reflection experiences and community engagement.
• Collaborate with school leadership, teachers, families and parish to nurture a faith-filled environment.
