Job summary

Education Authority is seeking a Catering Assistant for a part-time position based at Derry/Londonderry-Causeway Academy. The role involves basic food prep, simple cooking and serving meals to pupils, parents and staff, with duties across dining areas and kitchen operations.

You will work under the Catering Manager and Senior/Unit Catering Supervisor with opportunities to support central kitchen coordination, maintain hygiene standards and promote meals.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Basic preparation of food and beverages, including vegetables and snacks.
• Simple cooking and reconstitution of prepared food.
• Organising and controlling food service points and dining areas.
• Transferring and serving meals and snacks including transported meals.
• Promoting meals to pupils, parents and staff.
• Maintaining contact with the central kitchen regarding service delivery.
• Preparing dining areas and setting tables and serving points.
• Carrying out kitchen and dining room duties including washing and clearing.
• Cleaning kitchen/servery, dining room, floors and equipment.
• Recording temperatures for control purposes.
• Securing premises as required and completing delegated duties.
• Complying with legal requirements and codes of practice.
• Ensuring duties are within the competence of the employee.
• Performing any other duties of a similar nature as required.
