Job summary

Southern Housing is seeking a compassionate Scheme Housing Officer to support older residents across Isle of Wight schemes. This part-time role (20 hours per week, 9am–1pm, Monday to Friday) focuses on safe, well-maintained, welcoming homes and hands-on tenancy management.

You will conduct welfare checks, safeguard as required, engage residents and coordinate with colleagues, contractors and external partners to promote wellbeing and excellent customer service.

Qualifications

• Experience of care or support services.
• Full driving licence with access to own vehicle or ability to travel by public transport.
• Ability to manage time and tasks effectively and work under pressure.
• Proactive, solution-focused approach to problems.
• Good IT and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitor residents’ needs and safety through home visits and support required access to services.
• Provide tenancy management including letting vacant homes, arrears management and monitoring schemes.
• Report safeguarding concerns and respond to incidents following policy.
• Engage residents and manage relations to promote wellbeing and community cohesion.
• Coordinate with internal teams and external contractors to ensure repairs and maintenance are completed.
