Job summary

Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in Corby invites a part-time Respiratory Physiologist to join the Respiratory Investigations Department at the new Corby Community Diagnostic Centre. The role involves conducting full PFTs, including spirometry, gas transfer, and body plethysmography, with clear reporting and adherence to national guidelines.

You will support sleep diagnostic workflows, maintain consumables, and collaborate with senior staff to develop services across the UHN

Qualifications

Full PFTs - including spirometry, gas transfer and body plethysmography.
Spirometry with FeNO and bronchodilator response.

Responsibilities

To perform full PFTs - including spirometry, gas transfer and body plethysmography.
To perform spirometry with FeNO and bronchodilator response.
To set-up, give out and upload data from sleep diagnostic devices.
To obtain relevant patient history and consider contraindications for testing.
To make decisions regarding patient suitability for testing, when to conduct limited testing and when to terminate testing.
To obtain good quality results - well performed and repeatable - from patients.
To interpret results correctly and produce a well written report. This requires good understanding of national guidelines and local SOPs.
Maintain inventory and management of consumables to support Respiratory Investigations in ordering for Corby CDC.
To liaise with the Chief Respiratory Physiologist at Kettering General Hospital on all matters.
To support the continuous development of Respiratory Services at Kettering and Northampton General Hospitals, part of the UHN Hospitals of Northamptonshire NHS Group, and Corby CDC.
To advise other Healthcare Professionals at Corby CDC.
To support and train junior members of staff.
To be involved in audit and research programs where necessary.
To take personal responsibility for compliance with all Trust and Departmental infection control policies and procedures.
