Job summary

BSWA in Birmingham is seeking a Refuge Housekeeper to help maintain a clean, safe refuge for women and children. The role is 22 hours per week with a salary of £15,699.08 per year, working mainly across weekdays between 9am and 5pm.

You will develop and implement cleaning schedules, prepare flats for occupancy, and support health and safety checks, maintenance reporting, and stock management. This is a frontline post within a supportive team helping vulnerable residents.

Qualifications

• Commitment to services for women and children affected by domestic violence.
• Experience in carrying out health and safety checks.
• Experience working in a residential setting.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain daily/weekly/monthly programmes of work to ensure the refuge is cleaned and maintained.
• Prepare flats/rooms for occupancy as soon as they become vacant.
• Clean staff areas including offices, staff kitchen and bathrooms.
• Ensure the refuge is stocked with resources for cleaning and maintenance.
• Draw up requisitions for cleaning materials with line manager approval.
• Purchase equipment with line manager’s agreement.
• Ensure staff kitchen has tea, coffee, milk, sugar, etc.
• Launder bed linen, towels and duvets as flats become vacant.
• Report maintenance issues and carry out health & safety checks.
• Carry out regular room checks and monthly maintenance checks.
