Job summary

FCWA Refuge Family Support Worker sought to provide proactive practical and emotional help to victims and survivors of domestic abuse in a refuge setting. You will work as a member of our dedicated team, supporting women and children with sensitivity to foster independent lives free from harm.

You will encourage residents to take part in wellbeing activities, support communal living, and engage with staff and management to ensure a safe, supportive refuge environment.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting victims of domestic abuse is desirable.
• Ability to provide practical and emotional support with sensitivity.
• Commitment to safeguarding and empowering residents.

Responsibilities

• Provide practical and emotional support to women and children in a refuge.
• Engage with residents in a supportive, empathic manner to promote independence.
• Encourage participation in wellbeing activities and reduce isolation.
• Work as part of the FCWA team with regular contact to management.

Refuge Family Support Worker

£13.39 per hour

Hours of work:

22.5 hours per week, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 9am till 5pm. This also includes (1 week in 4) rota out of hours on call.

25 days per annum plus 8 public holidays.
Thereafter, you will receive one additional day for each year of continuous service, up to a maximum of 30 days.

The Support Worker’s role includes providing proactive practical and emotional support to victims and survivors of domestic abuse. You will work as a member of our dedicated team providing regular support to women and children within a refuge environment. To do this you will engage in a supportive and empathic manner working sensitively with residents, helping them to achieve independent lives free from harm and abuse.

This role supports refuge and residents in a communal setting. You will encourage residents to engage in support and wellbeing activities that can help to reduce isolation and encourage residents to feel part of the refuge community
