PMLD Teaching Assistant – Part-time
Location: Blackpool
Pay Rate: £13.75 – £14.50 per hour
Contract: Part-time

Are you passionate about supporting students with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD)? We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN school in Blackpool. This rewarding role involves providing 1:1 support to students with complex needs, helping them access education in a safe and nurturing environment.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to students with PMLD, ensuring their physical, emotional and educational needs are met.
  • Assist with personal care tasks, including feeding, changing and mobility support.
  • Work closely with teachers and therapists to deliver tailored learning activities.
  • Help maintain a safe, stimulating and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, parents and carers regarding student progress.
  • Use a range of communication methods such as Makaton, PECS or AAC devices, where required.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people with PMLD or complex needs.
  • A caring, patient and resilient attitude.
  • Ability to follow support plans and respond to individual needs.
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
  • Relevant qualifications in health and social care or education are desirable but not essential.
