Job summary

Dewis Centre for Independent Living in Pontypridd supports a family by recruiting a Personal Assistant to help a baby girl with complex health needs. You will work at home alongside her mum, providing day-to-day assistance and following instructions. The role is part-time (15 hours weekly) across 3–4 shifts.

Training will cover feeding and manual handling. DBS disclosure and verification of the right to work in the UK are required, with the Local Authority covering the DBS cost.

Qualifications

• This position is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS Disclosure (Police Check), which must be completed prior to employment.
• The cost of this check will be covered by the Local Authority.
• All necessary checks will be conducted to verify right to work in the UK before employment begins.
• Although part-time, the role requires a National Insurance number.
• Employment will commence under an initial trial period.
• Wages will be paid monthly and holiday pay provided.

Responsibilities

• Working alongside my mother to provide assistance as and when required, always taking instruction from her
• Personal care including nappies and dressing after a bath; initially not assisting with bathing, just being present
• Assisting my mum to take me to health appointments
• Attending play groups with mum or just me and you
• Taking me for short walks in my specialist buggy
• Assisting with feeding at a later stage after appropriate training
• Not required to support any part of my medication routine
• Participating in training for feeding and manual handling
• Playing with me and keeping me occupied while mum completes chores
