Job summary

Bath Spa University invites applications for a Part-Time Payroll & pensions Assistant in the HR team. You will help deliver accurate payroll and pensions services to over 2,200 staff, handling transactions, deductions, and pension contributions, while supporting system configuration and compliance.

This hybrid, 18.5-hour-per-week role offers a starting salary of £14,794 rising to £16,501 (full-time equivalent £29,588 to £33,002). Interviews are 23 October 2026.

Qualifications

• Recent, significant experience of payroll processing.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Experience working on large payrolls.

Responsibilities

• Process payroll and pension transactions accurately and on deadlines.
• Calculate salary payments, deductions, and pension contributions.
• Support payroll outputs, reports and compliance with HMRC and pension schemes.
• Assist with starters, leavers, and contractual changes.
• Provide guidance on payroll and pension matters.
