Part-Time Payroll Officer
Near Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire (OX7)
30 hours per week, with flexibility (between hours). Hybrid working available.
Salary: £27,000 per annum
Based at our client's Head Office and reporting to the Payroll Manager, this role involves joining a payroll team of 3 within a wider finance team of 19. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of payroll (minimum 2 years experience) and meticulous attention to detail. This friendly environment offers the opportunity to provide a high-quality, accurate, and timely payroll service.
Main Responsibilities:
- Managing payroll for our European division, primarily, but also supporting UK and Scotland payrolls (approx. 2,500 employees)
- Liaising with up to 10 bureaus across Europe monthly, coordinating these third parties with operational teams in each country within the month-end timeline
- Entering and importing variable overtime and casual hours
- Processing new starters and leavers, liaising with payroll bureaus as needed
- Processing contract amendments
- Calculating back pay, sick pay (multiple policies), maternity, and paternity pay
- Manually calculating Gross to Net pay where necessary
- Generating payroll reports, payslips, P45s, P60s, and statutory year-end returns
- Supporting payroll sign-off through monthly reports and BACS authorizations
- Supporting payroll and pension administration tasks
- Running payroll from start to finish, including month-end processes
- Monitoring email accounts, logging, and resolving payroll queries promptly
- Assisting in process and system improvements
- Training staff on payroll procedures and best practices

- Strong systems proficiency, especially in Microsoft Excel

Qualifications and Experience:
- At least 2 years payroll experience handling similar volumes
- Experience working with overseas payroll bureaus is desirable but not essential
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
