Job summary

University of Oxford’s Ashmolean Museum is seeking a part-time Security Officer to join a professional security team. The role combines security, customer service and operational support in a public-facing environment.

The successful candidate will perform patrols, monitor entrances, manage access control, and operate CCTV and other security systems. You will respond to incidents, undertake first aid and fire warden duties, and support safety checks and evacuations.

Qualifications

• Clear and effective communication with staff, visitors and contractors.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and exercise good judgment.
• Organised approach to risk assessments, incident reporting and safety checks.

Responsibilities

• Conduct patrols and monitor entrances and CCTV.
• Control access and operate security systems, including life safety devices.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and provide first aid and fire warden duties.
• Support events, receptions, deliveries and visitor enquiries.
• Assist with opening/closing procedures and risk assessments.
