Job summary

The University of Oxford Gardens, Libraries & Museums is seeking a part-time Security Officer to join the Ashmolean Museum's professional security team. You will patrol, manage access, operate CCTV, and respond to incidents while delivering high standards of service for staff, visitors and contractors.

Role requires DBS clearance, Known Consignor status and five years' referencing. Training will be provided; prior security experience is not essential.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for public-facing role.
• Reliable, proactive, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
• Willingness to undertake DBS check and satisfy security requirements.

Responsibilities

• Conduct patrols, monitor entrances and control access.
• Operate CCTV and security systems; respond to incidents and alarms.
• Assist with first aid, fire warden duties and safety checks.
• Support control room operations, fault reporting, and record keeping.
• Provide reception duties, deliveries and visitor enquiries support.
• Assist events and contractors and ensure secure opening/closing procedures.
