Job summary

Cygnet in Merthyr Tydfil is seeking a part-time Maintenance Operative to join our Ty Alarch site. You will work 16 hours per week at £12.75 per hour, providing a practical maintenance and repair service across our facilities and transport links.

The role requires hands-on skills in basic joinery, plumbing and painting, a full valid driving licence, and the ability to work safely, communicate clearly, and travel to other sites as needed. DBS check will be required.

Qualifications

• Experienced in a similar role or self-employed in recent years.
• Willing to travel and hold a full valid driving licence.
• Able to communicate at all levels and record detailed maintenance information.
• Skilled at DIY and general maintenance.
• Preferably experienced in electrical/plumbing/construction industries.
• Friendly, conscientious and a good team member.

Responsibilities

• Provide a comprehensive maintenance & repair service.
• Carry out basic joinery, plumbing, painting & general building work.
• Maintain equipment, services & vehicles.
• Comply with safe working practices & report faults.
• Travel to other sites and be on call for emergencies outside normal hours.
• Check fire alarm points weekly, including exits and emergency lights.
