Job summary

Lancashire County Council is seeking a part-time Cook/Kitchen Supervisor at Woodhill House in Morecambe to plan menus, manage stock, and prepare meals for elderly residents, with emphasis on portion control and dietary requirements.

You will maintain high hygiene and Health & Safety standards, supervise kitchen staff, order supplies, and record-keeping, ensuring meals are produced safely for around 45 residents each day.

Qualifications

• Experience in menu planning and stock control.
• Ability to cater for large numbers.
• Experience supervising kitchen staff.
• Knowledge of food costing and stock control.
• Understanding of specialised diets and basic nutritional needs.
• Awareness of basic hygiene and Health & Safety requirements.
• Proficiency in the correct use of kitchen equipment and utensils.

Responsibilities

• Prepare menus, ensure portion control, and provide dietary meals for residents.
• Maintain high hygiene and Health & Safety standards in the kitchen.
• Oversee service points, record-keeping, ordering supplies, and stock counting.
• Supervise other kitchen staff and ensure safe, effective work practices.
