Job summary

Guardian Jobs is recruiting a part-time Cook for Heavers Resource Centre, Croydon (SE25 6LL). The role covers Fridays 8am–3pm and alternating Saturdays/Sundays, totaling 13 hours per week, with temporary cover for 6 months and potential extension.

You will join an experienced catering team, preparing a variety of dishes and upholding food safety standards under the supervision of the Chef. A probation period applies.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in the kitchen.
• Catering experience in a commercial kitchen.
• Excellent culinary skills with the ability to prepare a wide range of dishes.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in food presentation.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to established recipes and standards.
• Assist in the development of new menu items, ensuring creativity and seasonal relevance.
• Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene in the kitchen at all times.
• Oversee kitchen operations, including inventory management and ordering supplies as needed.
• Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure efficient meal preparation and service.
• Train and mentor junior kitchen staff in food preparation techniques and safety practices.
• Monitor food quality during preparation and presentation, ensuring consistency across all dishes.
• Assist with special events or catering services as required.
