Job summary

Catering is recruiting a part-time Chef for a residential care home in Hayling Island. You will prepare fresh, nutritious meals for around 40 elderly residents, with 24 or 36 hours per week and a Friday–Sunday shift pattern.

This role focuses on traditional British home-style cooking, dietary considerations, high hygiene standards, menu planning, stock control and budgeting, with close collaboration with care staff.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Chef in residential care or similar environment.
• Good knowledge of traditional British/home-style cuisine.
• Experience catering for dietary requirements and allergies.
• Strong understanding of Food Hygiene and safety regulations.
• Experience with menu planning, stock control and budgeting.
• A passion for preparing quality, nutritious meals.
• Good organisation and ability to work independently.
• A caring approach to working with elderly residents.

Responsibilities

• Preparing nutritious, well-balanced meals for approx. 40 residents.
• Creating menus including traditional dishes.
• Catering for dietary requirements, allergies and preferences.
• Ensuring meals are presented to a high standard.
• Managing stock, ordering and budgeting effectively.
• Maintaining food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness standards.
• Following all food safety, hygiene and health & safety procedures.
• Working with care staff to understand residents' dietary needs.
• Minimising food waste while preserving quality and variety.
