Job summary

Horton Housing in Halifax seeks a Housing Officer with solid housing management experience, including health and safety, hazard reporting, rent queries and anti-social behaviour management. This permanent, part-time role offers 21 hours per week across three days.

Reporting to the Scheme Manager, you will carry out regular property checks, support tenants, liaise with the Rents team, and assist with void property management while upholding safeguarding standards.

Responsibilities

• Undertake regular property checks to ensure safety and health compliance.
• Observe and report repairs and hazards.
• Lead health and safety checks including fire alarm testing and legionella checks.
• Complete welfare checks for tenants.
• Liaise with Tenants and Rents team to resolve rent queries and arrears.
• Complete reporting and data entry tasks.
• Assist with referrals and assessments, including tenancy sign-ups.
• Support tenants with anti-social behaviour and welfare applications with Support Workers.
• Manage void properties including cleaning, furnishing and re-stocking to re-let promptly.
