Job summary

IWFM is seeking a hands–on Health & Safety professional for a part–time role in Basildon. You will own site safety, facilities standards, and compliance within a busy engineering and manufacturing environment.

You’ll work closely with senior leadership to keep the site safe, efficient, well maintained, and audit-ready. This role suits someone who thrives on being visible on site and driving a positive safety culture.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in Health & Safety, Facilities, or combined site management role.
• NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent health and safety qualification.
• IOSH membership or similar professional recognition.
• Experience working in SME environments.
• Familiarity with engineering processes, workshop operations, or hands–on manufacturing environments.
• Strong working knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and compliance requirements.
• Confident in carrying out risk assessments and implementing practical H&S systems.

Responsibilities

• Take the lead on all health, safety, and environmental compliance across the business.
• Develop, implement, and maintain practical H&S policies and procedures in line with UK legislation.
• Carry out and review risk assessments, method statements, and site safety documentation.
• Keep accurate H&S records and ensure documentation is audit–ready.
• Support managers in promoting a proactive, safety–first approach on the shop floor.
• Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes, and standards across the site.
• Act as main contact for external inspections, insurers, auditors, and authorities.
