Job summary

Riverside Medical Centre is seeking a part‑time GP Assistant to join Bridgedale Primary Care Network (PCN) for a 6‑month temporary contract. The role covers several PCN sites and supports clinicians, patients, and carers across the patch.

Based at multiple sites including Roslea Surgery and Riverside Medical Centre, you will work with a multidisciplinary team to improve patient outcomes and help with routine clinical and administrative tasks.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year experience working with healthcare professionals or NHS/social care.
• Experience in a multi-disciplinary setting requiring influence and negotiation.
• Ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders to meet outcomes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organisational and administration skills.
• Awareness of data protection and confidentiality issues.

Responsibilities

• Sort clinical post and prioritise actions for the GP.
• Signpost post to other professionals (e.g., clinical pharmacist).
• Extract information from clinical letters for coding and notes.
• Arrange appointments, referrals, tests and follow-ups.
• Prepare patients prior to GP appointments and take brief histories.
• Dipping urine, taking blood pressure, ECGs and phlebotomy.
• Complete basic forms for GP approval (insurance, mortgage, benefits).
• Explain treatment procedures to patients.
• Assist GP with liaison to outside agencies and care home team.
