Job summary

Two Rivers Medical Centre in Suffolk is seeking a Healthcare Assistant for a six-month fixed-term, part-time role (28–30 hours per week). The role blends clinical tasks such as observations, wound care, phlebotomy, and administration of medicines with stock control and record keeping within a friendly multidisciplinary GP practice.

Experience in a GP practice is essential, alongside a Level 3 Health and Social Care qualification or Care Certificate.

Qualifications

• Care Certificate or Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care required.
• GP practice experience essential.
• Strong patient-facing communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Take baseline observations: pulse, oximetry, temperature, blood pressure, blood glucose.
• Carry out wound care, venepuncture and phlebotomy checks; administer medicines and vaccines.
• Prepare clinical rooms and keep them stocked for each session.
• Update patient health records and maintain stock of medical supplies.
• Act as chaperone when required and assist the GP with minor operations.
• Communicate with patients, relatives and carers; promote health and education.
• Carry out new patient health checks.
