Job summary

The University of Portsmouth Students’ Union is seeking a Finance Supervisor to support the Union’s finance function, ensuring robust financial controls and timely processing up to trial balance. You will work 21 hours per week on a fixed-term basis until January 2028, with a starting pro‑rata salary of £25,500 per annum.

Qualifications

• AAT qualification or QBE with experience in maintaining ledgers up to trial balance.
• Solid understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and VAT rules.
• Experience with cloud accounting software (Xero) and proficient Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage sales and purchase ledgers and ensure accurate general ledger codes and VAT treatment.
• Reconcile credit card ledgers and match invoices to purchase orders.
• Record daily revenue from Online and POS data; maintain timely ledger entries.
