Job summary

The National Union of Students is seeking a Finance Supervisor (21 hours, fixed term to Jan 2028) to support and develop the Union's finance function. You will manage day-to-day transactions, uphold double-entry integrity, and provide cross-departmental financial guidance.

The role requires AAT or QBE with 1-2 years’ ledger experience, a solid understanding of double-entry bookkeeping, VAT basics, and proficiency in Xero and Excel. Flexible, accurate, and process-driven work style essential.

Qualifications

• AAT qualification or QBE with experience maintaining ledgers up to trial balance.
• Solid understanding of double-entry bookkeeping principles.
• Basic understanding of VAT rules and how they apply to charity finance.
• Proficient with cloud accounting software (Xero) and Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

• Manage and process sales and purchase ledgers with accurate GL coding and VAT treatment.
• Reconcile credit card ledgers and match to purchase orders; verify VAT receipts.
• Record daily revenue from online and POS data with correct ledger entries.
• Process expense claims and monthly petty cash reconciliations.
