Job summary

Willow Grove Primary School in Ashton-in-Makerfield, Wigan is seeking a Finance Officer to support the School Business Manager with daily financial tasks and reporting. The role is permanent, 15 hours per week during term time plus 1 week, and requires strong organisation and safeguarding awareness.

You will work in a busy school office, using CPOMS and Arbor systems, and assist with statutory returns while helping to maintain positive relationships with staff, pupils and families.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Business Admin, Finance or Customer Service.
• At least 4 GCSEs graded C or equivalent, including English and Mathematics.
• Excellent organisation skills and ability to prioritise workload.
• Ability to use own initiative and solve problems.
• Friendly, approachable personality and ability to work with staff, pupils and external partners.
• Experience in a busy school office environment and safeguarding policies.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with the School Business Manager to implement and embed robust financial procedures.
• Carry out day-to-day financial tasks such as ordering goods, raising orders and reconciliations.
• Produce monthly budget monitoring reports.
• Support the SBM and Headteacher to complete statutory returns (SFVS, CFR, VAT).
• Work in line with the SOFA and Scheme of Delegation.
• Create positive relationships with staff, pupils and parents/carers.
• Utilise IT packages (Outlook, Excel, Word, CPOMS, Arbor MIS/Finance).
• Act as First Aider and Fire Warden when required.
