Job summary

Derby College Group is seeking a Teacher of Equine (Maternity Cover) for the Broomfield Hall campus. You will plan, deliver and assess riding and practical stable management within FE programmes, leading lessons and ensuring welfare and progress.

Candidates should have strong rider coaching experience, a BHS Stage 2 Coach qualification (Stage 3 desirable) and a background in horse welfare, groundwork, and behaviour. This is a part-time maternity cover role.

Qualifications

• Strong background in rider coaching, horse welfare, groundwork, young horses, training and behaviour.

Responsibilities

• Plan, resource and deliver high-quality teaching and assessment in riding and stable management.
• Lead FE riding lessons and oversee internal quality assurance.
• Support students to achieve their potential through target setting, progress monitoring and pastoral support.
• Contribute to course trips, student recruitment activities and information evenings.
• Support work experience on the college yard and ensure college and awarding body standards are met.
