Job summary

Biffa Group is hiring an Education and Community Engagement Officer in Horsham. This part-time role offers flexible working across Monday to Friday, with a salary up to £20,000 per annum for 24 hours per week.

The role focuses on proactive community engagement, education about waste management and sustainability, and delivering site visits and open days. You will build relationships with local stakeholders, schools and residents, coordinating campaigns and events while ensuring safety and clear

Qualifications

• Knowledge of environmental issues and waste management practices.
• Experience using social media for communications and engagement.
• Willingness to undergo a CRB (DBS) disclosure check and evening work.

Responsibilities

• Deliver marketing, communications and engagement activity aligned with plans.
• Develop awareness campaigns promoting recycling and sustainable behaviours.
• Organise educational programmes for schools and community groups aligned with curriculum.
• Plan, manage and host site visits, open days and tours with safe, well-coordinated delivery.
• Be the first point of contact for community enquiries and complaints with timely responses.
• Represent the service at stakeholder meetings and lead external communications.
