Job summary

Highland Council invites applications for a Support Worker (Early Learning & Childcare) at Mount Pleasant Primary School, Thurso. 18 hours per week, fixed term to 01 July 2027, salary £11,406–£11,721 per annum. Salary placing at first point of scale includes Living Wage Supplement.

You will work as part of the childcare team, supporting the Head Teacher with stimulating activities in a safe environment, in line with council policies and PVG checks. Gaelic speakers encouraged; training required.

Qualifications

• Must be registered with SSSC prior to appointment.
• PVG scheme required; ability to obtain PVG clearance.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with families and children.

Responsibilities

• Work as a member of the childcare team to deliver a range of stimulating activities.
• Support the Head Teacher in providing a safe, welcoming environment for children and families.
• Follow Highland Council policies and codes of practice and participate in required training.
