Job summary

Battersea Dogs' and Cats' Home is seeking a Dog Intake Officer in London. This part-time role (16 hours per week) works on a rota including weekends and bank holidays under a 12-month fixed-term contract.

You will be the first point of contact for customers looking to bring a dog into Battersea, coordinating intake enquiries and ensuring dogs are admitted safely and efficiently. You will gather information on dog histories, explain intake policies, and provide compassionate support.

• Coordinate calls and enquiries to intake lines and explain policies.
• Provide high-quality, compassionate customer service including support for vulnerable people.
• Gather accurate behavioural and medical histories and update central database.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate calls and enquiries to the intake lines, explaining Battersea’s intake policies and procedures.
• Arrange dog admissions efficiently, working closely with the Intake Team Leaders.
• Provide high-quality, compassionate customer service, including support for vulnerable people in line with safeguarding policies.
• Gather accurate behavioural and medical histories, including vaccination and import information for dogs arriving from overseas.
• Welcome dogs into appropriate kennels, record observations and update our central database.
• Carry out investigations to establish ownership where required.
• Provide occasional weekend and ad-hoc cover for Lost Dogs, helping reunite dogs with their owners and supporting the intake of stray dogs from Local Authorities.
