Job summary

The University of Greater Manchester is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic part-time Disability Advisor to join the Disability Service. You will manage a caseload of students with disabilities and long-term health conditions, providing advice from pre-application to graduation and aiming to enhance the student experience.

You’ll work with academic and professional staff, deliver disability awareness training, and liaise with external agencies.

Qualifications

• Proven experience supporting individuals with disabilities, ideally in an education or advisory setting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to handle confidential information with sensitivity and professionalism.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a busy and complex caseload.
• A collaborative, flexible approach and a commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.
• Experience with case management systems, data handling, and a working knowledge of relevant legislation (e.g., Equality Act 2010) would be an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of students with disabilities and long-term health conditions.
• Provide advice and guidance from pre-application through to graduation.
• Deliver disability awareness and inclusive practice training.
• Liaise with external agencies such as assessors, support providers, and funding bodies.
• Work closely with academic and professional staff across the University to deliver the best student experience.
