Job summary

West Somerset College is seeking a dedicated Cover Supervisor to join its supportive and dynamic team. You will supervise classes in the absence of teachers and support students from Years 9 to 11, helping maintain continuity of learning.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths at grade C/4 or above.
• Committed to safeguarding and promoting welfare of children.
• Ability to manage classroom behaviour and support diverse learning needs.
• Strong ICT and numeracy skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Flexible, proactive, and a team player.

Responsibilities

• Supervise whole classes during short-term teacher absences, ensuring a calm and productive learning environment.
• Deliver pre-set lesson instructions and maintain pupil engagement and behaviour.
• Respond to general student queries and provide feedback to teaching staff.
• Support with exam invigilation and accompany students on educational visits.
• Provide administrative and pastoral support when not supervising lessons.
• Maintain accurate attendance records and manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies.
• Assist with classroom displays and curriculum-related admin tasks.
