Dorset HealthCare is seeking a part-time Consultant Psychiatrist in Learning Disability Psychiatry to join our reconfigured services across the Purbeck and Ferndown areas. You will lead community adult LD psychiatry, work with a multidisciplinary team, and provide clinics and home visits, with support from the Intensive Support Team (IST).

Qualifications

• MBBS or equivalent qualification with Licence to Practise.
• MRCPsych or recognised equivalent with psychiatry college membership.
• CCT in Psychiatry or Specialist Register in Psychiatry.
• Section 12(2) approval and Approved Clinician status or ability to obtain approval.
• If no CCT in Psychiatry of Intellectual Disability, demonstrate interest/ability to apply psychiatric practice to this patient group.
• Experience of medicine outside psychiatry (e.g. general practice).

Responsabilités

• Provide psychiatric leadership, assessment, diagnosis and treatment for adults with learning disabilities.
• Clinical work will be a combination of clinics and home visits.
• Medical cross-cover for annual, study and emergency sick leave with Consultant colleagues.
• Participate in the county-wide senior on-call rota with corresponding supplements.
• Contribute to weekly IST review meetings and development of LD services.

Formation

MBBS or equivalent Qualification with Licence to Practise

MRCPsych or recognised equivalent (psychiatry college membership)

Higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management

CCT in Psychiatry or Specialist Register in Psychiatry

Section 12(2) approval and Approved Clinician approval

Interest/ability to apply psychiatric practice to Intellectual Disability

Experience of medicine outside psychiatry
