Job summary

UPP Ltd is seeking a Cleaner for our Plymouth student accommodation on a 6-month fixed-term, part-time basis (25 hours per week, 9.30am–2.30pm, Mon–Fri). The role covers cleaning bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens and common areas, including white goods, floors and surfaces.

Responsibilities include routine cleaning, bed-making in summer, liaising with residents and Residence Managers, and adherence to Health & Safety policies. DBS checks may apply; a positive, customer-focused attitude is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience cleaning in a similar environment.
• Good communication and organisation skills.
• Attention to detail and passion to do an excellent job.
• Good conversational English and ability to read Health & Safety guidance.

Responsibilities

• Clean designated areas for student accommodation including bedrooms, bathrooms, and kitchens.
• Vacuum, spot clean and shampoo carpets; sweep and polish floors; clean walls, doors and furniture.
• Empty waste bins and remove rubbish from flats to bin stores.
• During the summer: make beds and laundered linen handling; clean windows and glassware.

The salary is £16,930.65 per annum.This role will be responsible for cleaning the designated areas for our student accommodation including bedrooms, bathrooms, shower rooms, kitchens and all white goods contained in the kitchens.This will include:Vacuum, spot clean and shampoo carpets, sweep and polish floors and clean stairsWash walls, doors, furniture, radiators, lampshades as appropriateEmpty waste bins and remove rubbish from flats to bin store areasDuring the summer season only: Make beds, including stripping and changing sheeting collection of laundered linen from store, bag and pack laundry for collectionClean internal and external windows, where applicableClean and wash glasses, cutlery and cooking utensils, as appropriateDaily liaison with the residents, Residence Managers and associated UPP staffAct in accordance with all Health & Safety policies and practices at all timesWe truly care about the experience of our residents and invite you to join our friendly and passionate team to help make a positive difference to students living away from home in our accommodation.We are looking for you to already have experience of cleaning in a similar environment and have great communication and organisation skills, along with an attention to detail and the passion to do an excellent job.You will need to have a good conversational standard of the English language and an ability to read and interpret our Health & Safety guidance. You will also be prepared to work (with notice) at other sites if required and additional hours when the need arises, especially during the main student arrival and departure weekends.
