Job summary

Howett-Thorpe Recruitment Consultants Limited is seeking a part-time Accounts Assistant for a 10-month fixed-term contract in Godalming. The role is around 3 days a week, office-based, with a dynamic finance team and clear responsibilities across invoices, depreciation, VAT returns, and supplier management.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a similar role, strong accounting exposure, and attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a similar Accounts Assistant role.
• Strong accounting exposure.
• Able to start at short notice.
• Experience with Sage would be preferable.
• Good attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Coding and sorting purchase invoices, posting bank payments and liaising with suppliers regarding payment dates.
• Updating all fixed asset registers and complete depreciation journals quarterly.
• Prepare rental calculations and pay all rental invoices.
• Raise purchase orders for all companies.
• Supporting with the preparation of the monthly management accounts.
• Complete quarterly VAT returns using the Sage MTD software for both VAT groups, when needed.
• Maintain and update records of the company's offsite filing.
• Building relationships with new/existing suppliers.
