Job summary

Kidderminster Town Council is seeking a proactive Operations Technical Officer to join the Parks and Public Realm team. The role involves hands-on maintenance across parks and public spaces, inspections of equipment, and supporting contractors to keep spaces welcoming and safe for residents and visitors.

You will work 37 hours per week with a flexible pattern, report to the Deputy Operational Services Manager, and contribute to ongoing improvement across Kidderminster’s parks.

Qualifications

• Experience in grounds maintenance or horticulture and inspecting public assets.
• Driving licence with Category C1 entitlement.
• Safe handling of tools and machinery with commitment to safety.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Inspect public assets and report/repair defects.
• Carry out grounds maintenance: grass cutting, hedge trimming, litter clearance.
• Assist with risk assessments and operate tools/machinery safely.
• Provide customer service and represent the council in public spaces.
• Coordinate with contractors and support across parks and public realm.
