Job summary

Parcelforce Worldwide, part of Royal Mail Group, is seeking a depot operative at Newcastle Depot to unload/load parcels, sort them for delivery routes and prepare trailers for drivers. You’ll deliver a friendly, dependable service and work as part of a team while maintaining accuracy and safety.

Starting salary is £25,201 per year (£12.71 per hour). After six months the salary rises to £27,561 (£13.94 per hour), with the potential to earn up to £30,000 per year including overtime and weekend

Qualifications

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in parcel handling.
• Able to lift and carry parcels up to 30 kg.
• Friendly, dependable, customer-focused with good teamwork.
• Comfortable working independently as well as in a team.

Hours: 32 [[zworkinghours and days]], with opportunities for overtime. Typical attendance is Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 00:30 - 08:00 & Saturday 00:30 - 09:00 .
Location: Parcelforce Worldwide Newcastle Depot, Drum Industrial Estate Chester Lee Street DH2 1AE

Why this role pays off:

• Starting salary: £25,201 per year, £12.71 per hour
• After 6 months: £27,561 per year, £13.94 per hour
• Opportunity to earn up to £30,000 per year, (based on a 38 hour week & overtime)
• Saturday & Sunday Weekend Premium +£4.39 (Saturdays) & +£6.58 (Sundays) applied to contracted hours
• Paid weekday and weekend overtime
• Additional Allowances:-
  • Monthly Non Pensionable Addition to Pay (£903.84 per year)
  • Night Duty Allowance (+£2.74 per hour, applicable on hours worked between 20:00 and 06:00)

What you’ll be doing

• Unloading / Loading parcels
• Sorting parcels to correct delivery route / preparing trailer ready for the drivers / onward transport
• Providing a friendly, dependable service — whether it’s a birthday gift or important business mail
