Job summary

Royal Mail Group in Weymouth is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) on a fixed-term 9-month contract to deliver letters and parcels on a 30-hour week with weekends and a rotating shift.

You will drive a Royal Mail van, walk routes, and work outdoors in all weathers while building relationships with customers. Training is provided, along with a uniform; salary is £13.68 per hour (paid monthly) plus overtime.

Qualifications

• Full manual UK driving licence (max 6 penalty points) required.
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment.
• Physically fit and able to walk long distances and lift 10kg+ mailbags.

You'll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You'll be required to work Sundays at Weymouth Delivery Office.

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

About you

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
