Royal Mail in Newton Abbot is seeking a Postie to deliver letters and parcels on a rotating shift, including some weekends. You will sort at the delivery office and deliver by van or on foot in your local area, building relationships with customers along the way.

You’ll need a full UK driving licence, fitness for long walks, and a proactive, reliable, customer-focused approach. Full training is provided, with holiday, pension, wellbeing support, and employee discounts.

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
