Turn this role into an interview — a resume and cover letter built around what this employer wants.
Shearwater Recruitment seeks a Paraplanner for its Sutton Coldfield office. You will perform technical paraplanning, calculate capital gains tax liabilities on investment disposals, and draft client reports.
The role focuses on delivering accurate, compliant outputs using client data, policy schedules, and valuations. The role is full-time and permanent, office-based, with standard hours from Monday to Thursday and a Friday finish.
Plenty of paraplanning roles at this level turn out to be a long apprenticeship in gathering information for somebody else to use. This one puts the technical work in front of you from the start. You will calculate and assess capital gains tax liabilities on investment disposals, working through annual exemptions, allowable losses and asset histories, and you will run chargeable event gain calculations on investment bonds.
The role sits between three sets of people: the firm's financial advisers, its outsourced paraplanning provider and its compliance team. You will draft suitability reports and recommendation letters, assemble the client picture from fact finds, policy information, valuations and cashflow reports, and keep all of it straight in Intelligent Office. Advisers will come to you with technical queries, which tells you something about the standard expected of the person who takes this on.
It reports to the Paraplanning Team Leader, it is office based in Sutton Coldfield, and the working week finishes at one o'clock on a Friday.

Diploma progress is the requirement that will not move; the paraplanning experience is preferred, so if you are studying and coming from an adjacent role it is still worth a conversation.
A paraplanner already working in an IFA practice who wants more of the technical work and less of the administration around it. The CGT and chargeable event calculations here are the job, not something that gets passed upward once you have collected the paperwork.
It should also suit someone who has come at this from an IFA administration or client servicing role, or from the provider and platform side, provided the Diploma is at least half behind you. The requirements assume you already know your way around a fact find and a policy schedule, so treat this as a step across rather than a step in.
