Job description

Salary: £40,000 – £55,000 depending on experience and qualifications, with the upper end available for Chartered candidates with substantial paraplanning experience

Benefits: Employer pension contribution of 3%, rising to 5% after two years’ service; 25 days’ annual leave plus public holidays, increasing by one day per year to 30 days; option to purchase a further five days’ leave; 4x salary life cover; healthcare cash plan; free mortgage advice; one day Community Involvement Leave per year; Employee Assistance Programme; shopping discount platform; free office parking; hybrid working with up to two days from home following successful completion of probation.

About the Company:

A well-established and growing independent financial planning business with a strong presence across East Anglia. The firm combines the personal, relationship-led approach of a regional IFA with the resources and stability of a wider financial planning group. Its culture is centred around collaboration, authenticity and continuous improvement, with a strong emphasis on delivering genuinely bespoke financial planning and creating an environment where people can develop their technical expertise.

Role Summary:

This is an experienced Technical Paraplanner position working alongside Independent Financial Advisers to develop high-quality financial plans and recommendations around individual client needs. You’ll play an important technical role within the advice process, carrying out detailed research, producing suitability documentation and using cashflow modelling to support financial planning decisions.

Importantly, this is not a trainee paraplanning or administrator-to-paraplanner step-up role. The business is looking for someone who already has hands‑on paraplanning experience within an IFA environment and can contribute at a technical level from the outset.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial planning research and analysis: Support advisers in assessing client circumstances and researching appropriate strategies, giving you exposure to varied and technically engaging advice work.
  • Suitability report preparation: Produce clear, accurate financial plans, suitability reports and advice documentation across new business, annual reviews and ad hoc recommendations.
  • Cashflow modelling: Build and interpret cashflow models as part of the advice process, helping advisers and clients understand different financial scenarios and long- term outcomes.
  • Recommendation evidence: Prepare supporting research and documentation that clearly demonstrates and justifies provider, product and planning recommendations.
  • Adviser and client support: Work closely with Financial Advisers and attend client meetings where required, including presenting technical or cashflow information.
  • Technical development: Maintain strong product, regulatory and financial planning knowledge while contributing to high standards across the wider team.
Requirements:
  • Previous hands‑on experience working as a Paraplanner within an IFA or independent financial planning environment
  • Level 4 Diploma qualification or equivalent; Chartered status would be particularly attractive but is not essential
  • Strong technical understanding of the financial planning process, including suitability reporting, research and cashflow modelling
  • Excellent attention to detail, organisation and written communication, with the ability to manage technical cases to deadline
