Job summary

UNICAT Technologies in Huddersfield is hiring an experienced Panel Wirer to join our manufacturing team. This hands-on role involves building and wiring electrical control panels to precise standards and reading schematics to ensure quality.

The position requires attention to detail, a methodical approach and pride in high build quality. Working Mon-Thu 8:00am–4:30pm and Fri 8:00am–1:00pm, with a pay rate of £16.87 per hour, plus benefits and a discretionary bonus scheme.

• Ability to work from schematic drawings.
• Attention to detail and pride in workmanship.

Responsibilities

• Build and wire electrical control panels to schematic drawings.
• Cut, strip and crimp cables; identify with heat‑shrink markers.
• Mount components, drill backplates and route cables.
• Finish panels including marking, glands and labels; inspect build quality.

Job description

£16.87 per hour | Monday–Thursday 8:00am–4:30pm | Friday 8:00am–1:00pm

We’re looking for an experienced and reliable Panel Wirer to join our manufacturing team in Huddersfield.

This is a hands‑on role where you’ll be responsible for building and wiring electrical control panels to a high standard. You’ll need good attention to detail, a methodical approach and pride in producing quality work.

What you’ll be doing

• Cutting, stripping and crimping cables, including wire identification using heat‑shrink markers.
• Populating terminal rails and fitting identification markers.
• Drilling backplates and preparing and mounting cable trunking.
• Fitting electrical components to backplates.
• Wiring components including contactors, relays, MCBs, inverter drives and PLCs to schematic drawings.
• Fitting cable glands and screw‑down labels.
• Stripping down Rittal enclosures ready for painting and rebuilding them afterwards.
• Working as part of the production team while also being confident working independently.

You’ll ideally have previous experience in panel wiring or electrical control panel assembly and be comfortable working from schematic drawings.
