Job summary

Auto Skills UK is seeking an experienced Panel Beater in Bishop's Stortford to join a modern, well-equipped bodyshop. You will perform high-quality accident repairs to manufacturer standards and contribute to a productive workshop environment.

The role offers a strong basic salary (£50,000-£60,000 DOE) with achievable £70,000 OTE, and regular daytime hours (7:30am-5:30pm). Ongoing training and career progression are available.

Qualifications

• NVQ/IMI/SVQ/ATA in Vehicle Body Repair or equivalent.
• Experience repairing aluminium panels and performing aluminium welding.
• Experience in a busy accident repair centre or Bodyshop.
• Knowledge of modern repair methods and manufacturer procedures.

Responsibilities

• Repair and replace damaged panels to manufacturer standards.
• Carry out structural and non-structural body repairs.
• Assess damage and plan effective repair methods.
• Work with Paint Technicians and MET Technicians to maintain turnaround.
• Maintain high standards of workmanship and health & safety.

THE ROLE

As a Panel Beater / Panel Technician, you'll be responsible for carrying out high-quality accident repairs, ensuring vehicles are restored to manufacturer standards while maintaining productivity and attention to detail.

Key responsibilities include:

• Repairing and replacing damaged vehicle panels using approved repair techniques.
• Carrying out structural and non-structural body repairs to manufacturer standards.
• Performing aluminium panel repairs and aluminium welding where required.
• Accurately assessing vehicle damage and planning effective repair methods.
• Working closely with Paint Technicians, MET Technicians and the wider Bodyshop team to ensure efficient vehicle turnaround.
• Maintaining excellent standards of workmanship, quality and health & safety compliance.
• Using specialist repair equipment and following manufacturer repair methods at all times.
• Completing repairs within agreed timescales while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.

ABOUT YOU

We're looking for an experienced Panel Beater / Panel Technician who is passionate about delivering first-class repairs and takes pride in producing high-quality work.

You will ideally have:

• Recognised apprenticeship or Level 3 qualification in Vehicle Body Repair (NVQ, IMI, SVQ or ATA).
• Manufacturer training would be highly advantageous.
• Experience carrying out aluminium repairs and aluminium welding.
• Previous experience within a busy accident repair centre or Bodyshop.
• Excellent knowledge of modern repair methods and manufacturer repair procedures.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to consistently produce high-quality repairs.
• A positive attitude, strong work ethic and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• A full UK driving licence.
