Job summary

Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) is seeking a Clinical Nurse Specialist to lead specialist palliative care within the Trafford area. You will supervise Practitioners and Macmillan Nurses, delivering expert clinical assessments and treatments for palliative care patients.

The role requires highly specialist training or a relevant Master’s degree, current UK registration, and DBS Update Service compliance within 30 days. The position is full-time and based in Trafford.

Qualifications

• Highly specialist short courses or relevant Master’s degree.
• Register with the DBS Update Service within 30 days of certificate issue.
• Current UK professional registration (NMC/other).
• DBS check specifics: Standard/Enhanced details as applicable.
• Up-to-date registration with the NMC.
• Health-related degree or portfolio experience.
• Non-medical prescribing qualification or ability to work towards V300.
• Teaching qualification.
• Certificate of Sponsorship policy if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision and clinical support to band 4 Assistant Practitioners.
• Supervise Associate Macmillan Nurse ensuring competency to support patients within the caseload.
• Specialist nursing assessment and treatment of clients referred to the Trafford Macmillan Palliative Support Service.
• Record system enables safer, smarter, and more efficient ways of working to deliver best outcomes.
• Manage a caseload of patients requiring palliative care input and ensure high-quality care across staff grades.
