Job summary

Sopwell House is seeking a passionate Painter & Decorator to join our Maintenance team on a full-time basis. The role involves delivering high-quality painting and decorating work across the hotel, while adhering to health and safety guidelines and coordinating with the Maintenance Manager.

You will perform preventative maintenance, keep accurate logs, and handle repairs or project work as required. Flexibility for varying shifts, including occasional evenings and weekends, is expected.

Qualifications

• Passion for maintenance, painting & decorating and high workmanship.
• Previous Painter & Decorator experience, ideally in hotel/commercial settings.
• Good knowledge of health & safety practices and safe working procedures.
• A proactive, reliable and detail-oriented approach.
• Professional manner with guest awareness and disruption minimisation.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a team.
• Flexibility to work varying shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Ensure painting and decorating work is completed to a high standard following safety guidelines.
• Work under the Maintenance Manager, carrying out daily duties from the defects logbook.
• Perform preventative maintenance tasks and keep log sheets up to date.
• Carry out repairs and project work as required.
• Take full responsibility for completing all assigned jobs to a high standard.
• Liaise with relevant departments to coordinate works.
• Minimise disruption to guests while carrying out duties.
• Report problems to your manager or senior management when needed.

Full-Time Position (40 hours) - Shifts typically vary between 7:00 am – 5:00 pm. Occasional evening shifts may be required depending on business needs.

Your role in our family:

• Ensure all painting and decorating work is completed to a high standard, following all relevant health and safety guidelines
• Work under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, carrying out daily duties from the defects logbook
• Perform preventative maintenance tasks, ensuring all log sheets and records are kept up to date
• Carry out repairs and project work as required
• Take full responsibility for completing all assigned jobs to a high standard
• Liaise with relevant departments to ensure smooth coordination of works
• Minimise disruption to guests at all times while carrying out duties
• Report any problems or issues to your manager, or to senior management in their absence
