Job summary

Amey is seeking a professional Painter/Decorator to join our team at HMP Frankland in Durham. This 39-hour role covers planned and reactive painting across the prison estate, with a rota including weekends, and a 15% allowance on top of basic pay.

We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Painter / Decorator to join our team at HMP Frankland in Durham.

Working a 39-hour week, you'll be part of a rota covering Monday to Friday (07:30 - 16:30) and weekends (08:00 - 16:00). The role includes 1 in 3 weekends, paid with an additional 15% allowance on top of your basic salary.

What You’ll Do

• Deliver high-quality planned and reactive painting and decorating works across the prison estate.
• Help maintain safe, clean and professional environments for staff, visitors and prisoners.
• Take responsibility for the care, maintenance and safe use of tools, equipment and materials.
• Work in line with Health & Safety policies, procedures and risk assessments.
• Support and mentor prisoners through Amey's CRED programme, helping them develop practical skills and confidence for the future.

What You’ll Bring

• A positive and professional approach to working within a secure prison environment.
• Strong awareness of health and safety practices, including method statements and risk assessments.
• A collaborative mindset with a willingness to share knowledge and best practice.
• NVQ Level 3 in Painting and Decorating (applications from candidates holding NVQ Level 2 will also be considered).
• Previous painting and decorating experience in a commercial, industrial or facilities management environment.
