Job summary

Amey is seeking an on-site Painter/Decorator for HMP Leicester. You will carry out planned and reactive painting duties across the prison, ensuring safety and compliance.

The role offers 39 hours per week (Mon-Fri) with a 1 in 3 weekend rota and a 15% weekend allowance, and a base salary of £28,792–£33,532 depending on experience. Commitment to safe, high-quality maintenance is essential.

Qualifications

  • NVQ 2 or 3 in Painting & Decorating.
  • Previous relevant work experience.
  • Good awareness of health and safety and risk assessments.
  • Comfortable working alongside prisoners.

Responsibilities

We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for an on-site Painter & Decorator in HMP Leicester.
The standard hours of work are 39-hours per week, Monday - Friday. There is a need to work 1 in 3 weekends on a rota basis (and with an additional allowance of 15% of basic salary).
The base salary is between £28,792 - £33,532 dependant on experience.

By using our facilities management expertise, we help keep 60 secure premises across England and Wales running smoothly.

The Painter/Decorator plays an important part in ensuring the planned and reactive maintenance work within the prisons is carried out in a safe, compliant and timely manner.

What You Will Do
  • Planned and reactive paint work in all areas of the prison.
  • Responsibility for the care and maintenance of tools, materials and additional company property.
  • Compliance with relevant company Health & Safety Policy, instructions and directive.
  • This role will also support both local and business zero carbon programmes, working towards zero carbon in a strategic and lean manner as and where it is appropriate.
  • Responsible for ensuring H&S standards are achieved across the contract.
What You Will Bring
  • Qualified to NVQ 2 or 3 in Painting & Decorating
  • Previous relevant work-related experience.
  • Good awareness and understanding of personal health and safety, method statements and risk assessments.
  • Comfortable working alongside prisoners.
