Job summary

GFSL at HMP Winchester is seeking a skilled Painter & Decorator to maintain and refresh prison environments, ensuring safety, cleanliness and a welcoming living and working area for staff and prisoners.

You will join a dedicated maintenance team, collaborating with plumbers, electricians, carpenters and cleaners to deliver high-quality finishes in a secure setting, with an emphasis on safety, reliability and professional pride in your work.

Qualifications

• City & Guilds or NVQ Level 2/3 in Painting and decorating or equivalent.
• Experience working in a maintenance team.
• Good Health & Safety knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Carry out painting and decorating tasks to maintain prison facilities.
• Work as part of a maintenance team with colleagues across trades.
• Ensure safety, quality and timely completion of works.

We are a Ministry of Justice business and provide critical and time-bound services to HMPPS, and are looking for a Painter & Decorator with a combination of

A City & Guilds or NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Painting and decorating or equivalent (or significant experience/time served in a similar role)

• Experience working in a maintenance team
• An honest and reliable character, who can approach their work with a sense of purpose and pace
• Good Health & Safety knowledge
• Excellent organisational, time management and people skills

Future Plans.

GFSL has been notified by it's shareholder (MOJ) that the provision of FM Services will in future be delivered by the private sector. This means that following a successful procurement process, GFSL's services will complete transfer to a private sector provider/providers no sooner than August 2027.
